What is Dual Credit?
Dual Credit is a unique opportunity for high school students to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. It allows students to get a head start on their college education, gain exposure to college-level coursework, and potentially save time and money on their future college degrees.
Admissions Criteria for Dual Credit
Admissions Criteria for Dual Credit CTE courses will vary and are set by Kilgore College. Please see the Dual Credit offerings below for specific information or speak with your guidance counselor.
Fees Associated with Dual Credit
Tuition Coverage for Dual Credit Students
For Students Eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch: Tuition costs for Dual Credit courses will be covered by the State of Texas.
For Students Not Eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch: Pine Tree ISD will cover the tuition fees for these students.
Textbook Coverage
All CTE dual credit students will have their textbook expenses covered by Pine Tree ISD.
Supplies and Special Kits
For supplies that students are required to keep (e.g., cosmetology kits), students will need to purchase them themselves. However, there is an opportunity for financial assistance:
The Pine Tree ISD Education Foundation offers student grants, which can be applied for to help cover the costs of special supplies.
For more information on available grants, please visit the PTISD Education Foundation Grants page.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding dual credit fees or need further assistance, we encourage you to reach out to your guidance counselor for guidance and support.
